Model Train Software
I know, you would easily swap ten hours with a weed wacker and set of pliers instead of one minute in front of your PC. It just feels phony to practice model training with a PC. Model training has been just fine without the World Wide Web, thank you. But it’s the information technology age, and there’s no reason why our laptops can’t give us a hand! You’ve already gotten lots of useful information about model training on the internet. You know it’s one of the best ways to track down that classic model train you remember from your childhood. But I’ve been doing some research and there is some wonderful model train software out there as well. Here are some of my best finds:
Model Train Software to help plot your layout:
Track planning model train software is one of the hidden treasures of the World Wide Web. Many software programs allow you to visualize the spatial drawbacks of your space and employ them to think through your layout in advance. Pre-set default layouts give you a solid starting point that with small alterations can be made to fit the individual peculiarities of your space. Some of the track planning software is even in 3-D! If your ability to visualize is wanting this is an helpful aid.
Model Train Software to help detail your model train and its landscape:
Another wonderful bit of software is one of these programs that help you to print out and sometimes to even individualize the details for your trains and landscape. Crafting the the empty surface of one of your buildings so that it now displays the worn down Coca Cola logo is as easy as printing a set of mailing labels. To print the lettering in the font and size that you fits your train’s specific type and design, you just select the style you want, print it, and decal it on your locomotive. The sizes and styles can be specified to fit the specifics of your model train’s size and historical context. Pre-fab decals will go the way of the rotary phone. This creates a host of possibilities for making your model train empire unique.
Model Train Software will soon be able to help you with signaling:
One of the most intriguing developing stories in the model train field is the current effort to create a Java based computer controlled signaling system. Such a system would allow hobbyists to control their complex multi-train tracks and accessories from Windows or other common platforms on their computer. This would take the mystery out of signaling for those that have never been able to fully grasp the more technical aspects of this part of model training. Wow. Your computer now changes into the control station for your whole model train layout. Signal box difficulties will become a thing of the past. I certainly know it would help me.
These are just a few of the ways that your computer can help you in your model training. I am willing to bet these won’t be the last computer advances we’ll want to keep abreast of. There is no doing away with the important effects that computers have had in the world| of actual trains.
