Have you attempted weaving a bead ring?  Getting the right ring size is a challenge if you have tried. You can adjust the dimensions of the ring band by adding beads or reducing beads on the band part of the ring.  Bear in mind, there are still little variations in size that when taken all together will affect the size of the band you are weaving even if they seem like the same size in your eyes.

Are you having difficulties getting your preferred band size?  It’s quite maddening, isn’t it?  But you can avoid this type of issue with help from a Ring stick.

It is a stick, as the name suggest, that’s slim at the top and gets progressively wider going down the stick.  The size of the ring is determined through which part of the stick it stopped when you put it in the stick.  The ring size is the same as the size of the width of the stick.

This is significant when you’re weaving a ring because you need to pinpoint the size of the ring band before you finally finish the band.  If you had initially connected the band to the other side of the ring, next thing you must do is to put the ring on the ring stick to check its size.

If there isn’t any difficulty with the size of the ring, you have nothing more to do than to complete the band.  However, if the size is too big, try to disconnect the band and cut back the number of beads in the pattern.  You need to disconnect the band and increase the pattern to increase its size if it is too little.

You can see the great use of a ring stick in saving your time while weaving a ring band.  It is strongly recommended to use a wooden ring stick instead of the metal one.  The latter may cause scratches over the crystal beads.

As with all tools that you use it’s vital to be safe when working with them and learning some basic Safety Tips in Jewelry Making is critical to be certain that you do not hurt yourself or accidentally harm some other person.  This isn’t just for when you are using high temperature torches when making Handmade Glass Beads, but all tools in the wrong hands or used badly can be deadly.

When you have finished working for the day make sure that you place your tools in a secure place, this will also make sure that when you start work the following day they are straightforward to find.  There’s nothing more frustrating than having to delay work because you have misplaced a tool.
