There are people who think that studying music is only for those who want to make a career in the industry. After all, unless it completely required, what would an accounting major do with a few units in Music Theory? Would a mother even have any use at all for studying voice lessons? It is unlikely that singing success would have much to do with doing the household chores or taking care of one’s family. What advantage would studying music have?

One thing is, studying music can actually bring deeper appreciation of the topic itself. Skeptics may have been wondering to know but the appreciation of music brings, not only many profits to one’s physical health but also it enhances a person’s mental health. It’s been shown by means of different studies that music appreciation cuts the risk of hypertension and stroke. It really lower stress which is already the primary cause for many of our health problems. Music appreciation maintains ones energy mentally and physically, it helps you sleep better and most of all reduce muscle stress. Music appreciation does not only
enhance a person’s sleeping habits and relieve muscle stress, it also adds to people mentally and physically. A key factor to keep yourself healthy, as some people have realized, is to have music in your life. Steve Krenz from Learn and Master Guitar DVD’s is the perfect example of this.

Second, the study of music helps enhance other forms of intelligence as well. It has been shown by studies that those who take up a few units of music tend to study longer than those who take up units that are purely linked to their field of study. Music and spatial intelligence seems to be linked which is the ability to form mental pictures. Students proved to be effective in organizing their thoughts more logically because they learned music. The language and analysis part of the brain is said to be developed by learning music.

Third, you will encounter numerous options when you study music. Studying music will mean that you will understand and appreciate other cultures through the really diverse language of music.

Fourth, studying music can help you develop perseverance and a passion for excellence. The study of music not often has a gray area between notes, it is an option between you’re in tune or not. Studying music may ask for the passion to learn as well as attention to details such as what style would work best for you and what won’t.
Studying music can become an avenue for one’s self-discovery.

Fifth, music is a terrific means of conveying ones message. One’s self-esteem can be developed through learning a constuctive means for self-expression. Some painfully shy people can become quite confident by finding a
means for positive self-expression they are good in. Even housewives need something productive to do other than household chores and taking
kids to school. At the same time, music is a good way to express yourself even as you enjoy and benefit from the process.

You can never study music too early or too late. Its just a good thing to
start studying music whether you want to learn how to play an instrument so you can impress friends by playing your choice of song, or whether you want to make a career out of it. Give it a shot, make an effort and find the music you like to learn.
