Wall Painting Techniques
Are your walls looking simple and plain? Are a person who always desires about a posh living room? Did you ever think about the different decorative wall painting techniques, like sponging, ragging, stenciling or stamping? Even if you have no experience, you can brighten even the dullest room quickly and cheaply with one of the below mentioned simple decorative wall painting techniques.
Even before you could start painting, choose a color scheme for the walls. Most of the painting styles, use two shades on one color for any design. If the one you are choosing uses two shades as well, pick your base color darker than usual, as your top coat which is a lighter color will make your base coat light as well.
To sponge or rag a wall, paint the base color first and let it dry fully. Then, dip your sponge or rag into the lighter paint color and sponge or drag the lighter color over the base coat until you are satisfied with the effect. Repeat the same thing for the entire wall.
If you are considering using a decorative painting technique such as stenciling or stamping, you might just need to give a wall paper effect usingstamping or stenciling a simple design over your base coat. Also if you wish to go further with this and use stencils or stamps to create a faux brick or stone wall follow few simple steps. First, coat your walls with the color of your pick for the mortar between the bricks or stones. After it becomes dry, stamp or stencil your bricks or stones over the base coat. After the brick or stonework is dry, spatter a bit of the darker color over your faux art as it renders it depth and makes it look more real.Creating faux effects such as giving the look to your wall like they are made of plaster or suede can also really make your room stand out. Paint bases that automatically give a suede or textured effect to the walls are a shortcut that even artists use to create fun finishes.
