To spice up your scrapbook, you may want to try a different type of scrapbooking layout. While you can choose from the many simple layouts, unusual layouts challenge your skills, creativity and imagination. The layout of a scrapbook is what makes up the theme and can help shopping for scrapbooking supplies easy. Here are a few layout tips you’ll be able to use for your scrapbook.

Wood

Wood doesn’t necessarily mean the use of regular wood chunks for your scrapbooking layout. With Popsicle sticks or bamboo, you'll be able to give a scrapbook's background an Asian look. Bamboo is a good scrapbooking material, used to create Asian patterns and other exotic figures. Not only can it be used as a photo mat, but also for the cover of a scrapbook. If with experience with wood and carpentry, plywood or thin pieces of wood can be made into outlines of a scrapbook. Scraps from wood may also be used as decoration.

Woven

For lovers of knitting and gifted with the talent of yarn and fabric, using a woven scrapbooking layout will be convenient. Using scrapbooking supplies like yarn or fabric can give any scrapbook the handicraft look. While weaving can be used to spice up and beautify the background of a scrapbook, you can also use crafts like knitting for the cover. Use various embellishments to highlight weaved materials and decorations.

With some new scrapbooking tips and efficient and unusual scrapbooking materials, you can create unique layouts for your scrapbook. By the use of imagination and a little bit of creativity, making a unique and memorable scrapbook will be much fun. If you want to save up money on scrapbooking, use home supplies as embellishments and just highlight with simple scrapbooking tools.

Scrapbooking Layouts – Background Designs for your Scrapbook

Having a hard time choosing from the millions of scrapbooking layouts? Would you like to have a unique layout that no other person could have made exactly alike? Well, recreating background designs are easy – especially when you have the right materials. Pondering over background designs will only take you one look at your tools and you should be having a brainstorm coming up.

Anyway, if you’re having a hard time thinking up some crazy cool scrapbooking layouts, take a read on these ideas.

Playing with Shapes

Shapes are cool, especially if you know how to work with it. Use colored paper or better yet, patterned paper for a much creative outcome. Cut out different big shapes in all sizes using different patterns. When you’re done, lay out the shapes onto your background in random order like a collage. Have shapes overlap others, overturned, half peeping, upside down, whatever position you can create to give the layout an eccentric look. Then in the middle, cut out a shape from felt paper and place in the middle. This will serve as your photo mat.

Punching Holes Another idea you may want to consider for your scrapbooking layouts is the use of the puncher. Yes, the puncher is actually very useful. Punch holes through your background, a patterned paper or any kind of paper and use this as your background. Acetate paper can be used as a window and for those who don’t want to throw away those holes you’ve punched, use it as embellishments.

Don’t stick with common layouts with your scrapbook. Venture out a little, try new things and test on your own. Use your creativity and imagination to create a background design entirely of your own liking. If you cannot think of any good background design, make up for the loss by adding scrapbooking embellishments.

Scrapbooking Layouts – Give your Scrapbook the Rocker Look

Some people may want their scrapbook to look neat, clean and organized while others prefer to create scrapbook using scrapbooking layouts that seem to be the epitome of chaos. Those with concert themes and party themes certainly will look cool in scrapbooking layouts that emphasize the chaotic beauty of life. On the other hand, giving your scrapbook a rocker look can also be another way of saying creativity is as simple as that.

Tearing Design

The tearing design is such an easy way to give your scrapbook a scruffy and rock band look. Use patterned paper or colored paper and tear the sides at random positions and shapes. Create small tears, big tears, some that look neater than the others and some that seem to be cut by teeth. Stick onto your scrapbook as a background and then highlight with eyelets, buttons and other types of embellishments. For a neater “tearing design” use shears or patterned scissors to help out with the cutting.

Burning Design

Scruffy but classy, the burning design is inspired from the old times where quills and inks and burning to seal were still used. Scrapbooking layouts like the burning design should be done with care as creating may be a cause of hazard. Use insect smokers or birthday candles to burn the sides safely. If you use candles, the fire may just catch up and ruin the whole page. Burn only the sides and let part of the fire darken the center of the paper for additional ancient effect.

Give your scrapbook the rock and roll look by putting little pieces of brads and quicklets of guitars and or emo-looking embellishments like skulls, pumpkins, blood or other scary marks and images. Best theme to use for these kinds of scrapbook would be any darker theme, gothic or Halloween themes.
